"Cherishing the Voice of January" is an original project based on an "incident" that Mishima has been confronting for 47 years, starting production from an independent film. Set in Nakajima in Lake Toya, Hokkaido, Hachijo Island in the Izu Islands of Tokyo, and Doshima in Osaka, the film depicts the inner turmoil surrounding "Reiko" as an important figure in the story. With the theme of "ark," involving "those who go by ship," "those who wait for the ship," and "those who come by ship," each with their own emotional wounds, three stories intertwine.
